Youth Programs at Families in Transition
In addition to the services FIT provides to adults, children also benefit from a variety of unique opportunities. Children have the chance to experience the joys of childhood in a supportive, positive, and enriching environment. Programs are unique and varied and include the following:
Programs
- Childcare during FIT's Intensive Outpatient Program, 5 days a week.
- The Children's Literacy and Arts Program (CLAP) takes place during seminars and support groups. Children from infancy to adolescence are welcome to participate in this program designed to nurture a love of reading and the arts. Along with free play and snack, children enjoy being read to and completing an art activity. All CLAP programs are supervised by trained staff and volunteers.
- Homework Club meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00. All children in kindergarten and up are welcome. Children receive tutoring from qualified volunteers and participate in activities including cooking, arts and crafts, computer games, etc.
- Girls' Group meets once a week to explore cooking, crafts, games, singing, science activities and more.
- Boys' Group meets once a week to explore cooking, crafts, games, singing, science activities and more.
- Youth also have the opportunity to participate in special activities including cooking class, computer lab, summer camp, art activities, and more.
- Fun and educational programs are also offered during school vacation and during summer break.
Many of these programs are supported by volunteers. To learn how you can get involved with FIT's Youth Programs, contact Becky Hadley
